Facilities Technician

Position: As the Facilities Technician, you will perform general maintenance tasks to ensure that facilities and common areas are kept in optimal, safe, and efficient conditions. This role supports daily operations by performing preventative maintenance, responding to repair requests, and ensuring facilities meet safety, regulatory, and operational standards. The ideal candidate has experience managing both lab and manufacturing spaces.
Core Responsibilities:
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform periodic inspections using checklists to detect wear and tear on machinery and systems (HVAC, lighting, appliances).
- Technical Repairs: Execute repairs across various disciplines, including:
- Electrical: Replacing outlets, photocells, ballasts, and repairing lighting fixtures.
- Plumbing: Fixing leaks, cleaning drain lines, and installing fixtures.
- HVAC: Cleaning ventilation units, changing filters, and monitoring automation systems.
- Carpentry and Finishes: Painting, drywall repair, and installing doors and hardware.
- Space Management: Assist with internal moves, conference room setups, and waste management.
- Vendor Supervision: Coordinate and oversee the work of external contractors (cleaning, pest control, major maintenance).
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all safety procedures are followed (such as Lock-Out-Tag-Out) and comply with local regulations and building codes.
Required Experience:
- Education: Technical degree in Electromechanics, Industrial Maintenance, Refrigeration, or related fields.
- Experience: Typically 1 to 3 years of previous experience in building or industrial plant maintenance.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with hand and power tools, troubleshooting, and basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Soft Skills: Ability to solve problems under pressure, attention to detail, organization, and strong communication skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy manual labor and availability for flexible shifts or 24-hour emergency response.
