Position: Government Affairs Manager                                 

Reports To: CFO


Coreshell's metallurgical Silicon anode technology delivers high capacity, fast-charging, and superior safety. Our low-cost liquid-phase nano-coating addresses critical electrode-surface degradation issues and enables batteries with a Silicon-dominant anode that have higher energy density, superior intrinsic thermal safety, and significantly lower cost/kWh compared to current lithium ion batteries. Our Si anode material is 50% the cost of graphite and 100% domestically sourced. We strive to transform the global automotive market by enabling low-cost and long-range EVs as a first step towards net-zero sustainability in the near future.

Position: As the Government Affairs Manager, you will be responsible for all strategic engagement and activities related to government entities, and policy makers. This individual will play a crucial role in fostering relationships with key government and legislative partners. In addition, this individual will have the opportunity to build their technical knowledge in order to monitor government funding opportunities and lead all grant writing efforts across local, state, and federal projects. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Establish, maintain and foster working relationships with government agencies, industry organizations, local, state and federal authorities to advocate on matters that are critical to Coreshell’s business activities
  • Partner with the CFO, CEO & CTO on all grant writing activities across local, state, and federal opportunities 
  • Strengthen Coreshell’s local presence by engaging with local city officials and policy makers with the intent of identifying strategic locations for expansion or expanding our existing facilities 
  • Collaborate and strategize with external government affairs consultants to advance Coreshell’s position in the industry
  • Continuously monitor state and regional policy developments, including state and local incentives and grants, and define and execute strategies to engage and advocate with relevant stakeholders, as needed 
 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sustainability, or related field (or

equivalent experience). Masters in Business Administration is nice to have but not required. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public policy or regulatory affairs. Direct experience in the battery sector is a huge plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication and ability to understand and communicate a highly technical product offering to external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Comfortable with navigating ambiguity and the inherent nature of “wearing many hats” at a startup 
  • Expert communicator capable of engaging with a range of audiences from technical analysts to senior policymakers and shaping persuasive and analytically rigorous documents for different audiences 
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with experience running multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • Willingness to travel (>25% travel)

Location & Benefits: San Leandro, CA or remote. Full-time. Salary range of $120,000 – $160,000. Salary and equity options depend on experience. Dental, vision, healthcare and 401(k) benefits are included. Resumes will be screened as received.
