Position: Business Development Manager

Reports To: Director of Business Development

Coreshell's metallurgical Silicon anode technology delivers high capacity, fast-charging, and superior safety. Our low-cost liquid-phase nano-coating addresses critical electrode-surface degradation issues and enables batteries with a Silicon-dominant anode that have higher energy density, superior intrinsic thermal safety, and significantly lower cost/kWh compared to current lithium ion batteries. Our Si anode material is 50% the cost of graphite and 100% domestically sourced. We strive to transform the global automotive market by enabling low-cost and long-range EVs as a first step towards net-zero sustainability in the near future.

Position: As a Business Development Manager, you will work closely with the Director of Business Development in originating, structuring, and executing the aspects of a commercial offtake for Coreshell’s groundbreaking Genesis Battery. This individual will play a crucial role in establishing and nurturing relationships with key partners within the battery ecosystem. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a growth-stage startup in the battery technology sector. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Identify, approach, and engage potential customers in the lithium-ion battery market, with the goal of achieving near-term commercial offtake agreements from a new market segment that aligns with Coreshell’s product roadmap. 
  • Build a robust pipeline of opportunities by deploying a variety of prospecting techniques and maintaining an accurate and up-to-date CRM. 
  • Analyze market dynamics to identify potential partnership opportunities and competitive positioning.
  • Work closely with Coreshell’s Product Management to perform customer discovery sessions to understand customer requirements and understanding of potential solutions from Coreshell.
  • Provide input on final customer solution with Coreshell’s Product and Engineering teams for existing products, or support creation of new products for new concepts
  • Manage potential customers through program development, from introductory conversations to technical fit evaluation and proposal development. 
  • Support Coreshell’s participation in industry events and conferences. 
 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sustainability, or related field (or

equivalent experience). Masters in Business Administration is nice to have but not required. 

  • Experience in partnerships, business development, or sales, preferably in the battery sector. 
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills + an ability to understand and communicate to customers about a highly technical product offering.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Comfortable with navigating ambiguity and the inherent nature of “wearing many hats” at a startup 
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with experience running multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • Startup experience at a Series A - Series D technology company is nice to have but not required
  • Willingness to travel (15-25% travel)

Location & Benefits: San Leandro, CA. Full-time. Salary range of $125,000 – $175,000 with performance bonus opportunities. Salary and equity options depend on experience. Dental, vision, healthcare and 401(k) benefits are included. Applications will be screened as received.
